Anyone with rowing memories from 1972-1976? That would be my timeline. Women's rowing was just getting started at FL Tech. It was a struggle, but we established a presence that could not be denied. Norton Schlacter was the last coach I worked with. We won just about everything we entered my final year. Everything except Dad Vail. It was the first ever year for a Vails Women's race. We raised the money, got ourselves to Vails, found friends to lodge us, fed ourselves, borrowed an eight from some club (a real scow) and managed to come in 2nd. Should have been first, alas. But it was all great. When I left FIT, rowing and rowing friends were something I missed for many years. ~Blondie '76
